Miranda
Miranda's love for basset hounds led her down the path of becoming a breeder. She has been breeding basset hounds for over 17 years and actively participates in CKC conformation events with her dogs and recently started exploring agility.
The absence of readily available supplies for breeders in Canada was an ongoing problem and frustration. It was from this and her passion for the dogs and breeding that The Breeders Cupboard was born.
The Breeders Cupboard started from their family farm in rural Alberta, Canada where Miranda, her husband Roger and their three children live with their basset hounds and horses. Miranda is very careful in selecting the products and whenever possible supports other Canadian businesses. She understands the importance of reliable, safe and quality supplies and most of the products you see in the store you will also find in her breeding cupboard.
Miranda has a keen interest and a wealth of knowledge in breeding practices, whelping techniques and raising beautiful healthy puppies. She is on top of the latest research and techniques and is always happy to share this knowledge and experience with her customers. You will often find her chatting to a breeder about their dogs and breeding program or mentoring a new breeder who is nervous about their upcoming whelp. She built The Breeders Cupboard for the Canadian breeders and the products are based on experience, requests and feedback. So please keep the requests and reviews coming.
Roger
Roger the man behind the scenes. Whether he is building shelves, picking up inventory or making sure your rush parcel gets out on time Roger is there to lend a hand. Roger works in the Oil and Gas industry when he is not helping out at The Breeders Cupboard.
Denise
My name is Denise, and I live on an acreage outside Lamont with my husband, Steve, and our beloved animals. I have a lifelong love of cats and dogs, which has inspired me to embark on my journey into dog breeding. As a new member of the Breeders Cupboards team, I am excited to learn and grow in this field.
Our household includes our cherished cats, guardian dogs, and our newest family member, a Basset Hound named Millie. I am looking forward to attending dog shows and connecting with fellow breeders in the community. My passion for animals drives me to create a nurturing environment and to contribute positively to the breeding world.
I have been attending seminars and learning every chance I can get with a growing passion for ethical breeding and the basset hound breed.
Kerrie
Having cut my teeth in the competitive field of schutzhund training in my teens, after completing a “basic obedience” course so my dog would not drag me around, truth be told he outweighed me, the struggle was real. it didn’t take long to move into the world of conformation along side Both of these fields led me to pick up my life and move overseas to Germany Where I spent 8yrs.
Many memories and many accomplishments later, I returned back to Canada having set records that stood long and hard, broken only by my own protege, which I am proud of as knowledge is only useful when it is shared. Though with instead….surprise not Dobermans - little creatures we call French bulldogs I have spent the past 25yrs fixated on this little breed, showing, training, and learning everything I can to help our breed’s future I saw a local help wanted ad for my favourite company and had to reach out immediately, saying please pick me. I am very thankful to be a part of this company and hope I can bring to the table my years of experience. Combined with an expertly driven team to help meet all of our canine needs is exciting
Fotina
Fotina has always loved animals and was interested in owning dogs since a child, but did not become involved with purebred dogs until an adult with the acquisition of her first pet Pomeranian. Over the years she has worked toward producing Pomeranians that do well in conformation but also in performance events. She began breeding Pomeranians in 2014 and the nature of the breed being difficult to whelp and raise encouraged her to learn more about timing, whelping and raising fragile puppies. She has taken many courses on breeding and puppy raising including Avidog A2Z and Avidog transformational dog breeding as well as any possible webinar she could find. She is very interested in using science as a part of dog breeding.
Susan
My deep love for animals started at a young age; when I began working at the local SPCA and the local veterinary clinics in my early teen years. Once I graduated high school, I went to GPRC (Fairview) to complete the Animal Health Technology program. Upon graduating in 2013 I spent the next 10 years working in veterinary medicine in a variety of roles from a mixed animal RVT all the way through to management; in more recent years I have had the opportunity to focus on what I love most – canine reproduction. I now work as a contractor/locum through one of the veterinary clinics in my area offering specialized health testing for breeding clients, this entails OFA, PennHIP, and other governing boards for pre-breeding examinations.
In addition to my work as a Veterinary Technician I am known to stay busy with several different business ventures all while completing my bachelor’s degree in accounting and building my own breeding program with the Karelian Bear Dog under the prefix “KarelianHaus”.
It was my love for animals and my desire to enter the purebred community that led me to the Karelian Bear Dog; a breed I have been dedicated to for many years. My dogs are all imported from overseas, and we often travel with them to Europe to compete in a variety of conformation shows as well as large game hunting and trialing. Some of my top highlights in the conformation ring would be; Several group placements, a BPIS, a BIS-J 4 in Finland, an International Champion (CIE), a World Winner, a Vice World Winner, and several championships in Canada and across Europe in addition to Canada first (and currently only) Grand CH Karelian Bear Dog.
I enjoy helping others in any way I can, and am always open to talking about dogs, so when Miranda reached out to me and offered me a position with TBC I couldn’t resist. I hope to help you with all your breeding, whelping, and dog related needs.
