I use them along the back of my whelping box when pups are first born on top of the grey ones. This way it is less disruptive to change bedding quickly when mom has a lot of discharge. I also use them when I am potty training and not using my perla beds yet. The shavings do get stuck in them like my blankets so I still have to give them a good shake or blast. What I like about them for that is they are heavy enough to stay in place to not move all over the place like a blanket.
